What to do with puppies who whine a lot after leaving them home alone. Using a bark collar to curb barking and whining when a dog is left alone is the place to start. Focusing on duration training like place or down is an integral part of the structured daily routine for a dog. Trying to make the dog tired with lots of exercise is not how to teach the dog to be quite and calm. Making duration training a part of everyday activities helps to calm the dog.
Hi there! I just got a Pomsky that is 4 months old (by the time we talk he will be 4 1/2 months old) He has a whining problem. He whines when we leave the room and if he is out of his crate in his play pen area he always scales the gate. What do you recommend I do?
He has never been crate trained prior to me having him. He does not mind the crate but he cannot seem to relax. I was trying to poke him in his chest or that sweet spot you said in one of your videos but that does not seem to work. I have also tried to ignore it and praise him when he is quiet and being good.
So far even after a lot of exercise he seems to continue to do this. We got him about a week ago so I am sure he has some adjusting to do still. I just got him a bark collar yesterday and the pet corrector spray. The spray has not really worked and he seems to be hollowing a little with the collar. It is a little less noisy. Since he is still a puppy I do not want to scare him or hurt him if I turn it up. This collar I have has a vibrating setting and an electric setting. I also tried to go on a run with him today and he was acting all weird. I think it was going off while we were running. I took it off and he started running fine.
